Back to Work After Christmas: Specialized Hauling of Construction Equipment for East Coast Specialized Hauling:

On the surface I know what you are thinking....very mundane common object to go on a heavy haul BUT considering where we stand economically, this is a good sign. Moving construction equipment means that someone is building something somewhere...which means growth...so I will stay optimistic for 2012:)

Imagine A Specialized Hauler Moving This

There is no official contest for largest specialized hauling cargo. Nevertheless I look for things that would be challenging for no other reason than I do not know who had to move them to where they are (other than driving them versus having them hauled to reduce mileage). We have moved a lot of large construction equipment for different customers, but nothing like this.

Take a look at this and use your imagination:

Maverick Orders 350 New Freightliner Cascadias, Adds MTIS to Trailers

Maverick Transportation will begin taking delivery of 350 new MY 2012 and 2013 trucks in the first quarter of 2012, and spec'ing the Meritor Tire Inflation System by PSI on all new trailers purchased in 2012.

The new Cascadias will be equipped with electronic onboard recorders, auxiliary power units, and the latest in safety technology, including collision avoidance, and roll stability control. The trucks will also contain the latest Daimler engine technology and Eaton electronic shift transmissions.

Among the new trucks, 190 units will be replacements as Maverick strives to reduce maintenance costs and lower the average age of the fleet. The remaining 160 units will represent growth as the company continues to expand its service offering and provide additional capacity to its customer base.

Maverick took delivery of 500 new trucks throughout 2011.

"Maverick's latest truck order means the vast majority of our fleet will be 2010 year models or newer," said Vice President of Maintenance Mike Jeffress. "We want our professional drivers and customers alike to enjoy the best equipment in the transportation industry."

Once again the tire inflation systems are being added to new trucks. I cannot think of a better application than on the specialized hauling loads of gigantic bulk cargo. The idea that possible tire accidents, fuel waste and breakdowns are prevented could really add something to the heavy haul industry...

More Signs Of Recovery...

Need specialized hauling: CLICK HERE
Two huge determining factors of economic health are transportation and construction. We all know transportation is moving right along but I am happy to say that construction is showing signs of life as well. In an article from the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association, construction employment has reached a 15 month high. While this is not great it is a real sign of life for the general economy and the specialized hauling industry.

We are not back to pre recession levels yet, but this is a definite BIG STEP in the positive direction. If we can keep the economic momentum this could translate into more growth and less distance to full recovery. As a specialized hauler, construction growth is huge as companies need to move materials and equipment to new job sites.
